I am so excited to begin dabbling in family videos! I had the honor and pleasure of filming the moment my 3 year old nephew met his newborn baby brother…let me give you a bit of a back story….
My nephew is the sweetest, cutest, most thoughtful little boy. He has been so excited about being a big brother! He would sing to his “baby brodder” in his mommy’s tummy, tell him everything he was going to show him…I mean omg…it was the most adorable thing I had ever seen! I didn’t get to experience that with my own children because my son was so young when his sister was born…he couldn’t even talk yet…so as you can imagine, this was a whole other thing!!
I have always admired the work of other photographers who do family videos. In our area, Audrey Schultz of Where the Heart Is: Family Films, is AMAZING! Tara Fletcher of Tara Fletcher Photography is also INCREDIBLY talented and amazing, and both of these women have given me the priceless gift of a family video with our photo sessions, so it is something I have always wanted to provide to my own clients because I know how much love and emotion I have felt from watching my own videos. (They both have made me cry numerous times reviewing their amazing work…they are amazing!)
Back to my nephews! My little sister is my best friend. I love and adore this girl so much, and I knew that this was such a special moment for their family. I had one goal in mind - make her cry. I wanted to be able to give her this gift that no one else could give her that day. I was there for a large part of the day…I got to film my nephew walking up to the hospital with my mother, a balloon bouquet in hand, super excited to meet his brother. I got to see him meet up with his Daddy and tell him how excited he was. I got to see him get off the elevator, walk up to the room, and hand the balloons proudly to his Mommy while excitedly explaining to her what he got for his brother and what he had in is “pack pack” (backpack!)…it was beyond everything…just soooooooo precious! I got to witness him see his brother for the first time in his life, hold his hand, hold him in his arms, sing to him, tell him he was so cute and that he loved him…it was amazing.
And guess what? I made her cry when she watched her video. Mission accomplished!
I am going to be incorporating this experience in with my regular photo sessions in 2019. I think it is important to have goals in your business and change and evolve, and I thank the brilliant inspiration of the talented women around me in my local area as well as the inspiration that I get from my clients. I am just getting started with this facet of my business, and I look forward to growing and getting better with each session!
p.s. I would love nothing more than to share the video with you, but we do keep my nephews’ photos and videos private. Thank you for your understanding!
